Trustwallet: your first swap
Trust Wallet is a self-custody wallet with swaps in its mobile app and browser extension. Review the provider quote, asset networks, and fees before confirming, then check what the completed swap delivered.
- Swap execution
- Independent third-party providers facilitate the exchange. Trust Wallet provides access to their services.
- Network routes
- Same-chain and cross-chain swaps. Cross-chain routes use third-party bridges or liquidity protocols that Trust Wallet does not operate.
- Transaction costs
- Network gas and provider charges depend on the selected transaction. Review all displayed fees before confirmation.
What should be ready before a swap?
Use the genuine Trust Wallet app or extension, and keep your secret phrase backed up offline. Never send that phrase to a swap provider or anyone claiming to offer support.
The asset that you intend to exchange must be available on the network that the selected route uses. Check the transaction’s network fee requirements before deciding how much of your balance to exchange.
The Security Scanner can warn about risky addresses and dApp connections before confirmation. Its checks flag known risk signals and do not guarantee that a transaction is safe.
What does the quote cover?
Check the sending asset, receiving asset, and network on each side of the proposed swap. A familiar ticker alone does not establish which network will hold the received token.
Network fees reflect blockchain conditions, while swap providers set their own service charges. Provider fees are factored into the quote, so inspect the displayed breakdown before accepting the exchange.
A cross-chain swap relies on third-party bridges or liquidity protocols to move value between networks and can take longer than a same-chain exchange. Cross-chain quotes expire, so refresh an expired quote before signing. The received amount may differ from the quote within its slippage tolerance. Check the minimum received; the swap fails if the output would fall below it.
Decision checklist
- If either token or network differs from your intended exchange, pause before confirming.
- If the displayed fee requirements exceed the funds available to cover them, stop before approving.
- If the Security Scanner raises a warning, inspect the flagged transaction or address before signing.
- If the quoted result or provider route is unacceptable, withhold approval.
How do you submit the first swap?
You can review the quote and leave without authorizing the exchange.
- Open the swap option in the Trust Wallet mobile app or browser extension.
- Select the asset to spend and the asset to receive, checking their networks.
- Enter the amount, then review the provider quote and transaction details.
- Confirm the swap only when you accept the displayed amounts, route, and fees.
What shows that the swap has finished?
On mobile, the swap success screen shows the amounts sent and received after completion. Compare the receiving asset and amount with the quote that you reviewed before confirmation.
For same-chain and cross-chain swaps in either interface, check the received token and amount on the destination network. A quote describes the proposed exchange; reviewing or approving it alone does not establish that the receiving asset arrived.
